Fable & Willow Joins BBC’s DIY SOS in BewdleyCreating a life-changing home for a local family

We were incredibly proud to support BBC One’s DIY SOS when the programme came to Bewdley to transform a local family’s home.

After answering a call for help from the programme’s producers, the Fable & Willow team donated its time, skills and materials to help create a beautiful, practical home that would give the family greater independence and allow them to spend more quality time together.

Working together on site

Our team helped dress and finish the family’s master bedroom,  and created handmade blinds and soft furnishings for several areas throughout the house.

The experience was very different from one of our usual interior design projects. The site was busy, the timescale was incredibly tight and, at times, the process felt chaotic—but the sense of teamwork was remarkable.

We were amazed by the way everyone came together. No matter their individual trade or role, every person on site was eager to help wherever they were needed and support the wider team in reaching the finished result.

It was wonderful to work alongside such a dedicated and hardworking group of designers, makers, tradespeople and volunteers. Everyone shared the same goal: to create a home that could make a genuine and lasting difference to the family.

From chaos to transformation

Despite the fast-paced nature of the build, the finished result was truly transformational.

Fable & Willow founder Emma Price said:

“The whole team was thrilled to be involved in such a special project. It was quite different from our usual way of working, with so many people on site and such tight timescales, but the camaraderie was incredible.

“We were amazed by how everyone came together. Whatever their trade, people were always ready to step in, lend a hand and help the team reach the finished result.

“The process may have felt chaotic at times, but the transformation made every moment worthwhile. We hope the family loves their new home and enjoys all the comfort, freedom and independence it brings.”

What the experience taught us

This project reminded us that when a project is well managed and people work together with generosity, determination and a shared purpose, something magical can happen.

A home is so much more than the way it looks. The right environment can give people greater independence, help them regain an important part of their lives and make a meaningful difference to the wider community.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have played a part in this project and to have worked alongside such an inspiring team of people.

Watch the transformation

The Bewdley episode of DIY SOS will be shown on BBC One on 27 October at 8pm.

We cannot wait for everyone to see the finished home and the extraordinary transformation achieved by the entire team.
