A Romantic Guest Bedroom Transformation by Fable & Willow
Creating a guest bedroom that radiates warmth and romance was at the heart of this recent project with our client, Kerry. Fable & Willow partnered closely with her to design a space that showcases exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful details, and a cohesive aesthetic. Every element was custom-designed, incorporating beautiful handcrafted textiles for a truly special guest retreat.
A Timeless & Inviting Retreat
Kerry wanted a refined yet welcoming feel that would envelop guests in comfort and elegance. We began by panelling the wall and selecting a beautiful green paint from Fenwick & Tilbrook to paint it in, which brought a calm, natural essence into the room. To tie the scheme together, we repurposed a vintage dresser and gave it new life with a fresh coat of this same green.
Bringing the Vision to Life
The design centred around an eye-catching hero fabric from Sanderson, which we used to upholster the headboard. We accentuated this with a carefully chosen trim from James Hare Fabrics, elevating the headboard into a true statement piece. From there, the bedroom’s design unfolded through an array of intentional touches.
Each bed was finished with a custom-made valance crafted from Thibaut's Anne French blue ticking. Fable & Willow added a subtle blue pleat in Romo Fabrics' Celino fabric, a detail that both complements the headboard and ties in beautifully with the broader palette.
Additionally, the cushions on the bed were fashioned from Ian Sanderson Textiles' Little Complements range and trimmed with a delicate pleat from Thibaut.
Form Meets Function With Our Window Treatments
The room’s ambience was further enhanced through the choice of window treatments. For a soft, romantic feel, Fable & Willow designed a relaxed London blind, positioned outside the recess to frame the view. This serves as a decorative accent, perfect for dressing the window when functional light-blocking isn’t needed.
For privacy and light control when guests come to stay, we complemented the London blind with a blackout roller blind crafted from the Little Complements fabric. We hand-stitched a navy pleat along the lower edge of the roller blind, adding a thoughtful detail that ties in with the room's scheme.
Final Touches
The finishing touch was a beautiful bow lamp base, which Fable & Willow customised by adding a subtle trim to the lampshade.
Reflections on a Successful Collaboration
This project was a true team effort, bringing together purposeful design, a dedication to craftsmanship, and a great client relationship with Kerry. Every element was selected with care to make her vision a reality. It was a joy to collaborate with someone who had such a clear sense of style, and the process was a true pleasure for all of us at Fable & Willow.
